On May 4th, 2018 AFS Egypt celebrated 59 years of AFS in Egypt. One hundred and sixty AFS Egypt volunteers, former and present board members, returnees of 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, Daniel Obst, president of AFS International, partners from Kenya, South Africa, Tunisia, Ghana, and USA. The event celebrated the history of AFS Egypt, the present realities and AFS Egypt’s dreams and vision for the future. The event marked the launch of the AFS Egypt Cultural hub.

African partners and AFS USA exhibited maps, flags, currency, newspapers, and souvenirs of their cultures in a bazar. It was a chance for our volunteers to know more about other partners and share success stories. Daniel Obst spoke briefly and focused on the spirit of AFS Egypt volunteers.

Three distinguished volunteers were recognized and were awarded trophies.  A meeting room was named after each of the three distinguished volunteers. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program, a team of alumni created a presentation and speech about their experiences.

AFS Egypt signed a Protocol with Rotary District 2451- Egypt  establishing collaboration in different community service projects supporting sustainable development in Egypt.

  Everyone had a wonderful time.
